Alien Themed Splashpad Makes Stellar Splash!
The City of Edmond held the grand opening for the Barnett Park Splashpad on September 26, 2014. The grand opening and ribbon cutting was attended by City officials and more than 100 residents who were excited for the City’s first Splashpad. Power Play, the local representative for Vortex Aquatic Structures, worked together with LandPlan Consultants, Tulsa, OK, to develop the Alien themed Splashpad concept. The Splashpad includes polished stainless steel features from the Vortex Aqualiens line and inspires creative and imaginative play for children. Features include four (4) different Aqualiens with colorful green Seeflow, a Bamboo No4 with a red Seeflow dumping flower, three (3) Bamboo Cannons, Orbit, Aqua Dome No1, rooster tail, water tunnel, ground geysers and custom flying saucers. Three concrete spheres finished with colorful artificial turf complement the unique design.
“We were looking for an alternative to our current aquatic facilities and a Splashpad was the way to go. It has been a desire of the community for several years and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Power Play and Vortex did a great job on the equipment, colors and overall appeal. It has definitely been the talk of the town!” (Craig Dishman, Director of Parks & Recreation, City of Edmond, Oklahoma)
